Yarns & Colours

Lately I’m a bit crazy with this yarns that come in a big cone sizes. They are from local yarn shop/studio; Pinkyfrogshop. Although it is local but I still have to purchase online because the yarn shop is located more than 300km away from where I’m staying. I don’t think they ship oversea but if you interested can just browse over to have a look.

WIP

I was actually planned to make a shoulder bag in all white but as I crocheting the base and looking at this candy yarn, I had the idea to bring in this colour. I accidently created this stitches (I had no idea what this stitches pattern name, comment down below if you know) and loving it so so much. So I’m very happy to share this to everyone who like to make one. You don’t have to use the same yarn or colour as I do, I believe it will turn as nice with any solid colour or any variegated yarn colours.

Below are the yarns that I’m using for this tote bag and I named the bag after after the lovely candy yarn colour name.

  • Duriyarn (Lace) 1 cone – for Main Colour A
  • Candy Yarn (Cotton Candy) 1 cone – for Second Colour B

Before Start

Note :

  1. For the base and bottom of the bag, we work in round back and forth.
  2. For the pattern A / body part onward we work all round without turning.
  3. For pattern A / body we will be working a spike stitches where we crochet on 2 rows below.
  4. Optional, place stitch marker on every beginning row.
  5. Don’t cut the yarn when colour change. Just drop and pick up. You have only 4 yarns end to weave in for this bag.

I am making this and I find so far it is easy enough to follow. I believe there is an error in row 10 of the base. Shouldn’t it be ” [ sc x 4, 2sc ] x 3, sc x 45, ** [ sc x 4, 2 sc ]** x 6, sc x 45, ** [sc x 4, 2sc ]** x 3, slst, ch turn ” ? The error is in the parts with **, where it says “sc x 2, 2sc”.

So after i make 6 sc i dont have any more chains. Where do i work the next 45 sc ? I still dont get it
Espacially because we work in rows ….not rounds

I do think it is accurate to say it is worked in rows instead of in the round. When you work in the round you are essentially making a long spiral. This pattern has you go to your starting point, slip stitch the row together (making a round), then chain one and turn. Then you go back and work over the row you just finished.

Replying to Gordana, I was confused about the same thing. I realized that you do the 45 sc on both sides of the original chain. It would be helpful to clarify that in the instructions. Thanks.

Hi I am having a problem with the first row of the base … could you please use more words I.e. if I chain 48 I do. It have space to make the rest of the 45sc please advise on this?

Hi Gordana,
You start with 48 chains and basically you will work on the 47 chains. You will insert your hook in the 2nd chain from hook for the first 3sc. The both end of the chain will be increasing part. So the 45 in the middle will be working with single crochet every chain. Come to the other end you make 6sc. Then another sc x 45, now you meet the first 3sc. At the same chain you make another 3sc. Slst to join. You now complete first row.
