Crochet Simple Basic Baby Booties ~ Free Pattern

I like seeing baby booties, slippers or shoes. I will attracted by baby shoes whenever I saw them at the display cabinet in the shopping mall.

In 2014 year, I’m into making baby shoes. I collected quite a numbers of baby booties patterns, either paid or free. I even bought booties patterns books to learn crochet booties.

They are in many designs. Complicated or simple. But non of them fit my taste, so I try to work out my own pattern.

I’m libra, who like balance and wanted to crochet a symmetrical pair of shoes. But I know I have to learn and accept as nothing can be 100% perfectly symmetrical in crochet, unless I can crochet with both left and right hand. Then I will be able to crochet a prefect pair of left and right side of the shoe.

Over years trying out different designs of booties. I prefer simple or very basic baby booties. Not much detailing on the booties. No strap, no button, no flower, no ribbon, nothing. Just plain and solid colour. That the prettiest and can be match with any baby outfit. Most important is, safe for putting on baby (I always worry, small button that attached on baby outfit. If baby grab and put it in their mouth, this picture are scary).

Crochet Baby Booties

The booties design; both sides of the shoe pattern basically are same but starting points are different. In that way, they will turn out left and right side as you crochet. Pattern also working without cutting of the yarn for different parts of booties. Unless you making different colour for the sole & upper shoes.

What yarn do you recommend? I used a bernat baby sport yarn size 3 light, and I wasn’t in love with how it turned out. The pattern is good and makes sense and your photos are so cute I’m wondering if I just chose a poor yarn. Please advise 🙏🏻 thank you!

Hi Alyssa, recommend to use cotton yarn to hold the shape. I had never use Bernat baby sport but that is acrylic yarn. I won’t said acrylic is poor yarn but it is softer than cotton. Any cotton blend yarn shall be work well for this pattern.
I hope this help. Thanks 😊

Bonjour, je trouve les explications du modèle très confuses, j’ai pourtant perseveré, dommage. It’s not clear !

Translated by google translate: Hello, I find the explanations of the model very confusing, yet I persevered, too bad
