This project came together quite unexpectedly — and very quickly! One of my friends returned from the United States for a short holiday, and I really wanted to give her something handmade before she left again. Since I didn’t have much time, I started browsing Ravelry for something beautiful yet achievable within a tight schedule.
After a few searches, I landed on the Magnolia Ascot from Purl Soho. The elegant texture and simple construction were exactly what I needed, and the best part — it’s a free pattern! Link to the pattern 👉🏻 here

Next step: stash diving.
I was thrilled to find a hank of Tibetan Cloud Worsted by Lotus Yarn in the colour GUERNSEY (07). The 100% Yak yarn originally recommended in the pattern reminded me of this yarn’s softness and warmth, so it felt like the perfect match.

I cast on Friday night and worked steadily through the weekend. I followed the size S instructions exactly, with no modifications. Late Saturday night, I bound off the final stitches — just in time for finishing.
To shape the scarf, I gave it a light steam-iron, followed by a gentle wash. I left it to dry overnight, ready to be wrapped up and gifted the next day.
When I handed the scarf to my friend, her reaction made the whole rush worth it. She loved it and admire my fine work — which always feels like the true magic of handmade gifts.
